Why Grass Fed, Grass Finished
Why Grass Fed, Grass Finished?
At 7 Star Cattle Co. we have a desire to know our food source to ensure the cleanest, healthiest, processed meat available.
With modern U.S. large scale beef production seeking maximum weight at the lowest cost, over 97% of the cattle in the U.S. are finished on a grain-based diet in a very dense feed lot environment, which places severe stress on the cattle.
The grain-based diet they are fed is many times composed of industrial food waste products comprised of grain, soy and food by-products seeking to put the most weight on cattle in the shortest amount of time possible. Feed lot cattle spend the last three to four months of their lives eating these grain-based diets.
Due to the high concentration of animals in a feed lot environment, health issues are rampant, leading feed lot operators to deploy a high number of vaccinations and medications to the cattle. Hormones are also widely deployed to quicken weight gain on grain-finished cattle.
7 Star Cattle Co. believes that this unnatural process of grain finishing highly medicated cattle leads to beef that is unnatural and unhealthy.
By knowing the source of your beef, the cattle’s food sources, and the treatment of the cattle during their lives, you can source significantly healthier beef compared to modern beef practices.
